Cabo de la Vela is a beautiful place of deserts, rancherías without time and night winds that in the early morning will die in the salty waters of Manaure, the white municipality of La Guajira.

The women, dressed in colorful blankets, chase a man wearing a guayuco. All are barefoot and move to the beat of drums. Travelers can also buy backpacks and chinchorros there, and try the friche, a goat-based dish, typical of the guajira gastronomy, where the young goat is cooked and then fried. Go up to the Pilón de Azúcar
Three hours north of Riohacha, on the Cabo de La Vela, is the Pilón de Azúcar, a hill whose summit seems to rise miles away but which climbs on foot in no more than fifteen minutes. At the top of the small mountain, where the gusts of wind feel strongly, there is an altar of the Virgin of Fatima and a relaxing view of the Caribbean Sea is appreciated.
